…..we are passing Ferragamo’s flagship store!  Even though we still need our raincoats in Florence, spring is in the air.  And even if you are a traffic policewoman, Ferragamo’s windows can still grab your attention…

Cyclonic!

Cyclonic!

Sometimes I truly disappoint myself. I take some great photos, I have a couple of very interesting thoughts or questions, I can actually see a blog post and it makes me smile. But then, something gets in the way…..a phone call, dinner hour approaching, doubts about the content of the post…..and the moment slips away. Disappointing.

Well, here’s to barging ahead, not being deterred, and letting all those little things see the light of day. They are, after all, the things that string together to make life fun or, at least, interesting.
Today, as I was grocery shopping, I had one of those thoughts. My shopping experience is so different from what it was back in the States. I live in the city of Florence, Italy and don’t have a car. There are so many of us in similar circumstances that our local supermarket offers a home delivery service and I love the way it works. You go in, you shop, you check out and pay, but before you do you make an appointment for delivery (there are three 2-hour periods within the day) and then you walk away, free as a bird, have a coffee at the bar and head home. I am always happy when I shop this way, and today was even more special because there was a big promotion going on…..vacuum cleaners (just a few for each store in the chain) were on sale. I need a new vacuum because the old one has grown heavy with the weight of duct tape holding most of its parts together, but even if I didn’t have the need I don’t know if I could have resisted the idea of the “City Space Cyclonic”….and here’s a photo (it even has my delivery reservation on it) and how appropriate….it’s green! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
